[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENTS. ]

Thames, Saturday. Adelaide.—The stripping and enlargement of the rise is now completed down to within two feet of the back of the adit level, and before proceeding any further with this work Mr. Stone purposes timbering the whole of the shaft from the surface down to the adit, aftor which the work of sinking will bo resumed from the latter point.

Puuu Consolidated. the past week, whilst breaking clown the liimu reef in tho south! drive, tho manager secured & couple of pounds of picked stone on tho liangingwall eido of tho reof, which fact points to the probability of a further improvement being mot with as the development proceeds. The extension of the low level crosscut is proceeding as usual, bub nothing has boon met with worthy of mention.

Golden Point (Tapu). — Tho greater part of the week has boon takon up in making tho nocessary preparations for cutting out tlio chambers on the eastern and western sides of tho shaft at tho 200 feet level, but tho timbers aro now in position, and the manager anticipates having the chambers completed within the nexb "eight or ton days, when a start will bo made with tho Mvo proposed prospecting crosscuts. The winding gear and cages are also being attended to with tho view of having everything ready for hoisting the dirt that will be broken directly in tho driving of tho crosscut*.

Victoria.—Mr. Coutts. has suspended the extension of tho north crosscut at No. 2 lovel for two reasons—(l) because the distance driven is already considerably past tho point where the downward continuation of fcho reef that is being operated upon at tho upper level was expected to bo met with, and (2) tho underlie of the reef in tho winzo that is being sunk below No. 1 level has assumed almost a vertical dip, which will bring its position ab No. 2 lovel to bo identical with tho ore body already intersected in tho crosscut at tho latter point. This beinu so, Mr. Coutts has commenced to drive westward upon the roof at No. 2 level, at which point it is about five inches in thickness, but no quartz has boon broken from it since the present operations wero commenced. Tho various works at No. 1 level aro without any particular change to chronicle.
