NATIVE AFFAIRS.
Mr. Locghun O'Brien', Judgo of the Native Land Court, retires from tho Department with the close of tho financial year. He has boon an officer in the public service for nearly 35 years, and is therefore entitled to a pension. Ho was Registrar of the Supreme Court in the time of Mr. Justice Arnoy, aftorwards R.M. and District Judge for the Auckland province, and then Judge of the Native Land Court. He is to be succeeded by Mr. Dunbar Johnson, Registrar, who is also a very experienced officer of the department. Mr. Johnson joined the Nativo Department in 1879, was stationed in the Lake district during tho Tarawera volcanic eruption in ISSIi, and was retrenched in ISSN. In 1892 lie rejoined the Native Departmect in the Waikato. He succeeded, Mr. Edger, who was raised to the Native Bench as Registrar. He is highly spoken of as an enorgetic officer.
CALLED TO THE BAR. Mr. A. P.. Holriship was admitted yesterday to practice as solicitor and barrister of the Supreme Court.
