At Ilia present face the lode shows a thickness of two feat, having narrowed in during the week, hut nevertheless strong colours of gold were seen at the very last breaking, the most important feature of nil is the gjort class of country being penetrated. The north prospecting drive : Passed through a leader about two inches in thickness, ii yielded a surprising prospect. The road contractors are making good headway. Hazeldank (Thames, March 10). —Scoping operations are still in progress on Kelly's lead; in digging a hole for a prop on Saturday colours of gold were seen in a stringer, and the leid lo iks more promising here when it does in the stopss. As there is a leader in the footwall of the Young American above No. 1 level, which I know is gold bearing. I purpose starting to drive along the Young American stopes from Kelly's crosscut.

A loading stope is being carried along the back of the drive on tile western side of the crosscut, and with encouraging results. Fifty pounds of picked stone have been obt lined from here during the la-t few days. The ie-id is not thick at this olace, but the indications are good for a pa'ch of gold, the country being all that could be desired around this part of the mine. Two men ha ?e been employed | this week in stoping on the aboveinentioued load over the surface level. The lead varies from six inches to a foot in thicknoss. Some of the quartz has a kindly appearance, but tho quality of it will he best proved at the mill, Crushing was commenced this morning at Ball's battery. I can form little idea yet as to how it will shape. A commencement has also been made to-day with the sinking of the winze on the lead bulow No. 1 level.

The leader, which averages about Ave inches in thickness, is divided by a land of sandstone about 12 inchei wide. During the week about four pounds of picked stone were obtained.

Moanataiaiu Extended (Thames, March 16).The lode is opening out and is now fully six feet wide, carrying a favourable class of minerals for gold, Surface section : Thediiveon the Durham reef; this reef is fully five feet in thickness, Driving on Edgecombe's reef: Both these reefs carry fair mineral indications.

Kuiianui (Thames, March 14).-Have now reached the beginning of the old Kuranui workings at this level, and at this point the stones have run. Very little gold has been soon during the week in these stopes. The stopes on same reef east and west of junction are about the same. The rise on Hayes' leader should he within a foot or two of holing thromh to the winze. The battery has only been crushing one shift of oiglit hours during the past we ok, and as there was very little picked stone secured, the dirt ha.l uot shaped quite so well. No. 7 reef is tliM feet wide, and most of the stone gives a little gold when tested. A winze his been sunk nine feet on this lode, which is a fine body of stone.
