CURRENCY QUESTION.
DEBATE IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. London, March 18. Mb. H. WniTELEY, M.P. for Ashton, moved in the House of Commons that an endeavour should be made to secure an international agreement upon a fixed ratio between gold and silver. Mr. Goschen said England would not abandon the gold standard. The prospect of a general agreement was not brilliant. Mr. Balfour considered it impossible to force into favour a currency which the banks distrusted. The motion was adopted.
