ITALY AND ABYSSINIA.
RUSSIAN MISSION TO KING MENELIK. BRITISH SYMPATHY WITH ITALY. Press Association.- Electric Telegraph.— Roue, March 17. It is reported that Russia has sent an embassy to King Menelik consenting to mediate with Italy. The Marquis di Rudini says the convention will not aSect future events. Rome, March 18. The new Premier, the Marquis di I'udini, informed the Chamber that General Baldissera was instructed to obtain the best terms he could. He did not desire to retain the Tigre, or insist on a protectorate over the country. He asked for credit of a hundred and fifty million lire. The Senate passed a vote of thanks to the British Parliament for the sympathy shown with Italy, The Premier said it was intended to secure a desirable position in Africa, and restore the prestige of Italy. The Government would adhere to the Triple Alliance.
