Napier, Saturday. It is likely there will only be seven starters for the Cup on Tuesday, those at present under a cloud being North Atlantic, The Possible, Gipsy Graud, Brooklet, ami Mihaki, while Saracen will probably be withdrawn in favour of Lady Zetland.

At Hastings this morning some interesting winding-up gallops were witnessed. Bloodshot beat l'orpina orer five furlongs in lm. His., Searchlight following in a sound nine and a-half gallop in 2m. 60s. The Possible and Bessie McCarthy did a mile and a quarter in 2m. 215., the latter beating her opponent. Bonnie Scotland aud Tireuse were associated over a mile eallop, the latter having the best of the trial. Three Star accomplished oilcircuit, the last seven furlongs of which were done in lm._37s. Acoue had Mysterious 13 a companion iu a mile done in ]m. 50s. Acoue looks a mass of condition. Retribution aid Triton were treated to once round at a rattlin? pace. The Gisborne horse is v,ciy tit. Liberator, Kapua, Rip Van Winkle, Popgun, Lotion, Donald McKinnon, and others were given useful work. The tracks are very hard, aud trainers are all anxious for a good shower.
