MR. HOUSTON AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.
[BY ikleqraph-own correspondent.] OIUKAWii, Friday. Mr. R. M. Houston, M.H.R., addressed his constituents last evening at Kttikolte. The speech lasted about two hours, and was well received. Nearly all the current political topics were touched upon, as well as the different Acts that had been placed on the Statute Books of the last two sessions, Mr. Houston professed to be an admirer of party (roverument, as in his opinion a strong opposition conduced to the strength of the governing party. He also said in referring to the past bank legislation, that if such another crisis were to happen as to need the assistance of Parliament to aver} a crash in our principal banking institution, that he would vote again in tho same manner as he did before, and after mature consideration hq was convinced that the credit of the colony had been saved by the prompt action of the House. A vote of thanks and confidence was accorded to Mr. Houston at the termination of his address. A vote of thanks to the chairman (Mr. Patterson) brought the proceedings to a close.
