MR. CADMAN IN WAIKATO.
[from our own correspondent.] Ngaruawahia, Thursday. The Hon. A, J. Cadman, accompanied by Messrs. Ronayne, Grant, and Wilson (secretary), arrived at Ngaruawahia by special train at half-past soven p.m. yesterday. Shortly after his arrival a deputation waited upon the honourable gontleman at Smith's Waipa Hotel. The deputation consisted of Messrs. Dickeson (chairman of Ngaruawahia Town Board), Paterson, H. J. Saulbrey, E. Fitzpatrick, and Moffatb. The chief matter discussed was tho desirability of erecting a bridge over tho Waipa river at Ngaruawahia. Mr. Cadmnn considered that the work was a necessary one, and promised to at once communicate with the Minister of Lands to get him to send a competent engineer to survoy the site and give an estimate of the cost. Mr. Cadman pointed out that the local bodies interested would then have to find ways and means of contributing their share of the cost. Sevoral matters of minor interest were talked over, and tho deputation, after thanking Mr. Cadman for his very courteous reception, withdrew,
