AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs. M. Niccol (chairmail), R. Farrell, J. J. Holland (Mayor of Auckland), J. T. Julian, E. Bell, C. V. Houghton, A. E. T. Devore, B. Kent, J, J. Craig, W. Thome, and W. Gunson.
Freeman's Bay.—The Town Clerk forwarded a copy of the resolution passed at the last meeting of the City Council, re the purchase of the Freeman's Bay reclamation. The Board decided to refer the matter to the Finance and Legal Committee, and to invite tlio Finance aud Legal Committee of the City Council to a conference with the Board's committee. The committees, the Chairman explained, would of course report separately. Mr. Farrell said lie supposed the committees would fix a price and submit the same to the Council and the Board for approval or otherwise. The question of drainage in connection with the reclamation was referred to the Works and Tariff Committee.
Refund. — Messrs. Donald and Edenborough wrote for a refund of portion of dock dues charged for ono of their vessels. Referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. Devonport Wharf.-Mr. J. H. Hannan sont a letter complaining of dangerous interference with traffic on the Dovunport Wharf by reason of its being blocked with goods, The matter was referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. It was generally admitted that there was a real grievance, and that there should be some systematic arrangement for the keeping of a gangway. Party Wall.—The proposal of Mr. J. M. Geddes re party wall was accepted, Mr, Geddes to pay all expensos. Finance and Legal Committee. recommendations of the Finance and Legal Committee, as already published, were adopted. TiieHawke's Bat.— letter from Messrs. Russell and Campbell re legal action against the steamer Hawke's Bay was referred to the Legal Committee. Woeks and Tariff Committee,— report of the Works and Tariff Committee the proceedings of which have been already published, was adopted. Northern S.S. Company.—lt was decided that the Works and Tariff Committee be empowered to arrange with the Northern S.S. Company as to additional office accommodation.
