LABOUR LEGISLATION.
[BIT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Waimatb, Tuesday. At a meeting of the New Zealand Worker*' Union, a resolution was passed strongly objecting to the Premier's speech at HamilI ton, Auckland, and viewing with regret his stated intentions of not legislating much in the interests of the labouring class during the next few years, eeoing that the measures already parsed are so meagre, while no efforts have been spared in order to legislate largely in tho interests of the commercial class. The opinion was expressed that the claims of labour should nob be pub in tho background, considering that the present Government hud been placed in power principally by tho votes of tho workers, who were under the impression that the Government would earry out the reforms outlined by the lato Hon. J, Ballance, that true friend of the people.
