FIRES.
[by TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christoiiuroh, Monday. In connection with the fire in Beath and Co.'s drapery establishment, yesterday, tho insurances on the departments burned amounted to £4625, divided as follow :— Stook: Royal, £1000; Norwich Union, £1000 ; Guardian, £875; Imperial, £600. Fittings: In the Royal, £250. Building: Alliance, £1000.
Inyekoargill, Monday. Tho New Zealand Pino Company's Colao Bay sawmills, the finest and most complete in tho South Island, wero totally destroyed by fire on Saturday night. The Insurances are :—Commercial Union, £1000 ; Phoenix, £1000; Imperial, £500 ; New Zealand, £500. A large number of men will be thrown out of employment.
