BABY TWINS FOUND ON A DOOR-STEP. OffK of the most singular oases of child desortion which has occurred in Anckland for years past took place in Parnell on Friday night or Saturday morning. The following are the particulars About eight o'clock on Saturday morning, Mrs, Harrington, who resides in Ayr-streeb, informed Lonstablo Hutchinson that on opening her front door in the morning, she found two male babies, evidently twins, on the verandah. Each child was wrapped up in a piece of blanket. Constable Hutchinson accompanied Mrs. Harringtor to tho house, and found the babios as reported. Both were alive, but one was in a very weak state from exposure, the blanket having been somewhat carelessly wrapped round him, thus leaving the body partially exposed. The babies appeared to be about a day or two old. Constable Hutchinson got a woman to take charge of them, and then obtained medical aid. Dr. Marsack attended the woak one, and sucoeedod by restorative measures in bringing it round, but ho said the child had been found just in time to save its life. Subsequently the children were given into the care of two women residing In Hobson Park, pending the investigations of tho police. During the day Constable Hutchinson and Detective Chrystal were diligently investigating the mr.tter, with a view of tracing out the mother. Thoy are still following up their inquiries, but with what result is not yet
