Leighton lias been created a peer Mr. Howard Vincent has been knighted; Mr. Alfred Austin hag been appointed Poet Laureate; the Hon. P. 0. Fysh, Colonial Treasurer in Tasmania, has been made Commander of- St. Michael and St Georgo; Sir Richard Temple, exM.P., and Mr. 0. B. Stuart-Wortley, M.P. for Hallam, have been appointed Privy Councillors; Mr. W. V. Robinson, Clerk of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, has been created companion of St. Michael and St. George.
