The Embassies endeavoured to prevent the massacre at Zeitoun, which, it is alleged, had been plotted by the Palace. Izzet Bey, the Sultan's Equerry, has been arrested owing to his insisting on reforms being carried out. It is reported here that the Turks have captured Zeitoun and that the Armenians fled to the mountains. Placards are posted over the town affirming the immediate deposition of the Sultan. Constantinople, December 27. The news of the capture of Zeitoun is continued. Izett Bey is being tried by courtmartial. London, December 26. The Daily Telegraph's Vienna correspondent wires that the Porte's refusal or delay will mean the massacre of 15,000 Christians. The British, Russian, and French embassies "are not satisfied with the reform works being carried out by the Armenian Commission, It is stated that the Russian Government would not accept the effective measures proposed by tho Sultan, hence their abandonment.
