The top boxes wero crushed by a fall, so that tho stuff could not bo run into die main string. No. 2 sluice is nob yet touched. Ro«s United tributers cleaned down for 2200z, valued at £875. The gold returns throughout the district are unusually good, owing to tho plentiful supply of water.
A specimen of Riga flax, 2fb 9in high, grown by Mr. A. M'Allister, was recently exhibited in Mansfiold, Victoria, as a proof thab the frost does not interforo with its growth to any groat extent. The seed was sown ab the latter end of April. Mr. Will. Parkinson, from Liverpool, preaches at tho Tabernacle to-morrow forenoon. A w&tehnight service will be held on Tuesday. ........ , , Captain Burton and Mr. McMillan, of the ship Crusader, will speak to morrow evening in the Primitive Methodist Church, Alexandra street. This will be their last public address before sailing, Tho Rev. C. MacGregor, M.A., from Melbourne will speak at the Sunday evening service in the City Hall. One of the Ferry Company's steamers will run an excursion to Lake Takapuua, to morrow afternoon, The s.s. Vivid will run an excursion trip to R!verhead, to-day, and also to-morrow. Oil the Ist and 2nd January, the s.s. Waitoa, Stella, and Invincible will run excursion trips to Pine Island. The Auckland Free Stock and Mining Exchange Company (Limited) will resume business on Monday, bth January.
