ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

[BV TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.]

Christchoroh, Thursday. Manager McCormack arrived by the Takapuna on Wednesday, and was met at the station by some of the boys. We are staying at the White Hart, and are very comfortable. A. Jones has not donu anything sensational, contenting himself with short sprints. W. Martin and T. Roberts are both very well, and should fill the two _ places in Kith hurdle races. Roberts is also confident of running well up in the quarter mile Hat. F. Creamer has not quite got rid of his cold, but he has been moving very freely and has gained many admirers. M O'Connor and A. A. Davies are in very good form and will make things exceedingly warm in the mile flat, notwithstanding the fact that Bennett, of Dunedin, is very (it. Davies has been improving daily. Bilkington started in several races at the Pioneer Bicycle Sports to-day, anil rode very well on the whole. In the Ladies' Bracelet his machine swerved and threw him heavily 011 to the track hurting his ribs. He, however, started in the tivo mile and rode very pluckily. He would have won tho half mile but he is a terribly slew starter, and allows the other men to go right away from him, Nearly all the men taking part on Saturday are here. Hempton is expected tomorrow, the boys are all in good health, and would have made things very warm for the Banner had Kallendor and Brady been here. Even now there is a hope. Goodwin, the Sydney walker, is here and will be very hard to beat in the Mile Walk at the Australasian meeting. He only weighs Bst Blb. The cinder track is very soft, but the grass is bettor thau the Auckland Domain.
