SPEECH B\ THE PRINCE OF WALES. FRIENDLY SENTIMENTS. OPINION IN AMERICA. V VENEZUELA APPEALING FOR AID. London, December 26. The Prince of Wales, speaking at York, replied to the New York World's articles, and expressed his belief that the crisis would be arranged in a manner satisfactory to both countries, and that the same warm friendship which had existed for so many years would continue.
The Times' New York correspondent wires that the Prince of Wales, by his speech, showed that he well understood the feeling of parties in tho United States, and the opinion in the country is that they can accept his message as being equally gratifying to both, and as likely to be interpreted as expressing the Queen's sentiments. New York, December 26. Venezuela is appealing to kindred States for help in the event of an outbreak of war. The New York press states it is useless for the "Republic to hope for any assistance. MESSAGE FROM AUSTRALIA. Sydney, December 25. At the final meeting of tlio Stack Exchange, prior to the Cliriabmas adjournment, it was resolved to send cables to the English and New York Exchanges wishing that peace and goodwill would prevail.
