AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. TRAINING NOTES.

Tin; course proper at Ellerslic being thrown open yesterday morning, some capital work was recorded. Doris and Acone, who were the first to work, were sent a short five furlongs, the former having the best of a very fast spin. Dreamland covered two miles at a fair pace, tin daughter of Cadogan moving very nicely throughout the journey. Day star and Woodstock were partners in a fivefurlong spin, in which the former showed to most advantage. Armilla, who looks very fit, put in five furlongs at three-quarter price. St. Ouida and Sabretache ran a fast live furlongs, the colt having the best of tile " go. The Possible and Quiltiri were associated in a good working gallop over two miles, the former finishing in front, though Quiltiri seemed to be eased in the last furlong. St. Kegel and St. Kilda galloped a strong five furlongs, in which the former had tho best. Oscillator accomplished a good working pace gallop, and finished well. Impulse moved freely in an easy task that was allotted him. St, Clements jumped of! at the si.< furlongs post, and was picked up at the half mile post by Haselmore, the pony having the best of it at the finish. First Nelson and Kingsman were partners in a gallop over ten furlongs, the latter showing to"most advantage. Pegasus was allotted an easy task, tin son of Nelson only going at half pace. Heart of Oak beat Anniversary over five furlongs. Daring and Defiance put in half paco work, as did also Musketry. Panoply and Stcpfeldt ran a mile and aquarter at a strong pace, being joined towards the finish by Forma. Panoply had tho best of the spin. The jumpers Fishmouer, liritea, and Ika put in good work. _ _ St. Hippo was an absentee, but it is understood that he was treated to swimming exercise at Kohimarama. TUB betting MARKET. Quiltiri holds his position _ firmly as favourite for tho Cup, 3 to 1 being now the best price obtainable about him. The Possible shows signs of shortening, and 7 to 1 has been accepted about Mr. Gollan'fi horse. ACCEPTANCES. Acceptances for the Trial Handicap, Handicap Hurdles, Railway Handicap, Nursery Handicap, Ponv Cup, and Christmas Handicap close to-night at nine o'clock. At a meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club to-night the Farewell Handicap case was considered. In this case it will be remembered the rider of Messrs. Haslett and Stephenson's horse Hippomenes (the winner) after passing the winningpost dropped his lead bag, which was picked up by the clerk of the course and placed on the scales when the jockey was weighed in. After some discussion it was resolved that the stakes be awarded to Hippomenes. The privileges in connection with the Auckland Trotting Club's Meeting will be offered at eleven a.m. to-day by Messrs. Wilding and Co. at the Brunswick Mart. Nominations for AVkapuna Cup, T.J.C. Handicap and Steeplechase close to-night. The fourth payment in connection with the Auckland Coursing Club's Challenge Stakes falls duo to-night at eight o'clock.
