AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

An ordinary mooting of the Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. M. Niccol (chairman), W. J. Napier, J. T. Juliau, R. Farrell, W. Thorne, E. Bell, W. Gunson, A. E. Devore, C. V. Houghton, and G. S. Kissling.

Marine Notices.—Marine notices were received from the Government of Bengal and the Marine Board of South Australia.

Petition.—The Town Clerk forwarded a petition to the local Board of Health from the steerage passengers by the steamer Manapouri from Sydney, complaining of overcrowding and evil-smelling cargo. It was decided to inform tho Town Clerk that the Collector of Customs was the proper authority in the mattor. A letter addressed to the Board on tho same subject) by Mr. E. C. Harvie was ordered to be sent on to tho Collector of Customs.

TnE Wolverene.—The recommondation of tho Works and Tariff Committee, " That the barque Allonby and the ship Wolverene be permitted to berth at the wharf for the purpose of discharging the cargo of the latter vessel into the former on tho payment of £50," was agreed to.

Information.—Tho secretary was instructed to supply the necessary information regarding the port, for insertion in two English publications.

Freeman's Bay Reclamation.—A letter from Mr. T. B. O'Connor,, the contractor for the Freeman's Bay reclamation, asking for information regarding the terms of the contract, wag referred to the Works and Tariff Committee, Reports.—The recommendations of the Works and Tariff Committee re barb wire fence at Hobson's Bay, repairs to signal station, excavations and creek at Hobsonville, and proposed reclamation at Kauri Point, were all agreed to; also the recommendations of the Finance and Legal Committeo re leases ot C. J. Hutchinson, Merchant Shipping Tonnage Bill, R. K. Garlick's application for lease of allotment, Wilson and Co. rent, Brown, Barrett, and Co.'s lease, and by-law re "touting." Miscellaneous,—An offer of 300 tons of broken metal at 4s 3d per ton from Mr. W. Haslam was declined. A communication from J. Burns and Co., re lease of allotment in Customß-streeb East, was referred to tho Finance and Legal Committee. The seal of tho Board was aflixod to surrender of leases and leases of allotments from the Board to C. J. Hutchinson ; also to lease of allotment) in Mechanic's Bay to Wm. Roid. The use of six hydraulic jacks was granted to the City Council upon payment of the usual charges, __________
