ATHLETIC SPORTS.

FOOTBALL. KATIKATI V. TAOBAKQA. The Katikati footballers opened their iieason rather favourably this year. They commenced practice on the 11th, and in response to a challenge from the Tauranga juniors played them at Katikati on the IStli, and defeated them by 14 to nil. The visitors came from Tauranga by the 8.8. Result, and on account of the stormy weather it was rather late when they arrived, and the result was that there was" only time to play two halfhours instead of two 45's which would have made a decided improvement in the scoring of the home team. .Mr. .Middlebrook fulfilled the task of referee, and gave general satisfaction. It is anticipated that the Te Aroha team will visit Katikati this season, and let us hope that the local boys will meet the same success that favoured their first match of the season.—[A Correspondent.]

PUKKKUHK V. BO MBA V. On Saturday afternoon, on the Pukekohe football ground, the respective teams of Bombay and Pukekohe met to try conclusions. The result was an easy victory for the Pukekohe team by 14 points to nil.— Correspondent.]
