AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday. There were present: Messrs, M. Niccol (chairman), W. J. Napier, R. Farrell, W. Gunson, E. Bell, B. Kent, P. Dignan, J. T. Julian, C. V. Houghton, A. E. Devore, and G. S. Kissling. Fish Market. —Mr. C. Bishop wrote stating that the fish market would be useless to him unless he could stable his horse there. Under these circumstances the Board resolved to lease the market to Mr. Lomey at £7 a month. Works and Tariff Committee.-The report of the Works and TarifF Committee was adopted. Re-arrangement of Offices. — The Finance and Legal Committee recommended that no further action be taken in reference to re-arrangement of offices. Mr. Napier moved, as an amendment, "That the matter be referred back for further consideration." All the office work, he said, might be carried on upon the-ground floor. The two upper storeys were quite useless to the Board. Mr. Bell seconded. He said that the Board's large building was a piece of vulgar affectation. Mr. Farrell strongly opposed the amendment. After some further discussion, the amendment was carried. Calliope Dock.— foreman of works recommended that the caisson of Calliope Dock be taken out and sighted, as it appeared to be decaying at the edges. Referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. Tenders.—The following tenders were received for repairs to the dolphins at Calliope Dock :—W. J. Cameron, £306 4s; W. H. Brown, £306 19s 6d ; A. Watson, £288; R. Martin, £270 14s 4d ; 1). Gouk, £268 10s. The tender of D. Gouk was accepted. Miscellaneous. was decided to comply with the request of the Marine Department, Wellington, to forward the Boards schedule of rates. An application of Mr. C. J. Hutchinson, for concessions concerning the lease of properties in Commerce and Customs-streets, was referred to the Finance Committee. Mr. W. J. Hirst and Co. wrote for a refund of Is paid for Btoiage of goods ex Poherua. The Chairman stated that though the claim was a small one, the principle involved was rather important. The matter was referred to the Finance and Legal Committee.
