Included among the Birthday Honours are : —Lord Harris, Governor of Bombay, to be Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Star of India ; Sir H. B. Loch, to be a member of the Privy Council ; Lord Playfair and the Right Hon. James Stanfeld to be Knights of tho Grand Cross of the Bath; Mr. Edward Fairfield, C.M.G., Assistant Under-Secretary of the Colonial Office, to be a Companion of the Bath ; the Earl of Aberdeen and Lieut. - Colonel Sir Charles Mitchell, Governor of the Straits Settlements, to be Knights of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George; Mr. Walter Besant, the author, Mr. Henry Irving, the actor, Dr. Russell, the war correspondent, and Mr. Lewis Morris, the poet, to be Knights Bachelor ; Sir Thomas F. Buxton, the recently-appointed Governor of South Australia, and Mr. R. C. Baker, C.M.G., President of the South Australian Legislative Council, and the Hon. W. A. Zeal, President of the Victorian Legislative Council, to be Knights Commander of St. Michael and St. George Mr. J. A. Pan ton, magistrate, of Melbourne, and Mr. J. S. O'Halloran, Secretary of the Royal Colonial Institute, London, to be Companions of St. Michael and St. George. , .--..•, ■.■• Latest.
