At a meeting of the Riverina Frozen Meat Company, the chairman stated that he had chartered a steamer capable of carrying 750 head of live cattle, and that it was intended to thoroughly test the trade on a large scale. He also mentioned that Australian tinned meats were rapidly forcing their way into favour in Englaud to the exclusion of the American article. THE BUTTER MARKET. The circular of Messrs. oetze3 and Gerritsen, Continental, American, and Colonial produce agents, London, of the 22nd March, report on the butter market:—Danish prime, £4 10s to £4 16s per cwt; Normandy extra, £4 IBs to £5 2s per cwt; do. ordinary, £4 to £4 12s; Friesland first, £3 10s; do. second, £2 IGs to £3 6s per cwt; Brittany first, 14s 6d per dozen lb; do. second, 13s per dozen lb ; do. third, lis per dozen lb; do. fourth, 9s per dozen lb ; Australian dairy. £2 10s to £3 6s per cwt: do. factory, £3 10s to i' 4 per cwt; New Zealand dairy, £2 10s to £3 10s per cwt; do. factory, £3 14s to £4 6s per cwt. The only change to report in the market is that the accumulated stocks of Danish have been cleared off, and there is a decided improvement in the demand for the North. Colonial: This market is entirely demoralised, and altogether in favour of buyers, who can buy on their own terms. It may be summed up that holders scarcely know what to ask or what to refuse. It does not seem possible that matters can improve during the present season. AUCKLAND STOCK AND MINING ASSOCIATION.
