CROWN LANDS BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Crown Lands Board took place yesterday afternoon. > Present : Mr. Bagnall (chairman), Major Harris, and Mr. D. Lundon. Summary of Lands Disposed OF.—The

lands disposed of from loth December, 1894, to 19th January, 1895, were :—With ordinary right of purchase, 3992 acres: for cash, 1640 acres : total 17 selectors of 5632 acres. Applications for Lands, etc.—Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board applied for lob 155, parish of Mangapiko to be vested in them : Agreed to recommend Governor to vest section as requested. Waipa County I Council applied for sections 514 and 515, Town of Cambridge, to be vested in them as a gravel reserve Agreed, to set apart section as gravel reserve. Wairoa Road Board requested that portion of Otau township be re-classified as suburban land Resolved that the Government be recommended to have lands re-classified as suburban lead, at 403 per acre. Opotiki Town Board requested that lot 218, section 1, town of Opotiki, be vested in them as a landing reserve : Resolved that the Government be recommended to gazette the section as a landing reserve. T. Lane applied that the price be reduced to 10s an acre on the surplus 9 acres on sectien 9, Totara: Resolved that Mr. Lane be informed that unless he takes the land in this way it would have to be thrown open for selection in the ordinary way. Application to Board to recommend Government to reserve Lots 2 and 3, town of Kohukohu for recreation purposes ; lots contained 1 rood 30 perches : Resolved to recommend accordingly. Board were requested to recommend Government to set aside section 23, Block X. VVaipoua survey district as a school site (10 acres): Resolved to recommend accordingly. Application to Board to throw open as " unsurveyed " 5630 acres in Tauranga County at 15s per acre, 2566 acres in Whakatane Connty at 12s 6d and 870 acres in Bay of Islands County at 7s .6d per acre: Resolved accordingly. Application to Board to set apart sections 98 and 99, Parish of Okahu, as an education reserve. Resolved to recommend accordingly. ~■•.,. Applications for Crown Grants.—-The following applied for Crown grants, on improvements effected : —Patrick . Geraghty, Tuakau ; Charles Thaxter, Onewhero ; Thos. Taylor, Joseph Gower, John Lewis Clarke. Approved : In the case of VVm. Walker, Onewhero, decided applicant must complete improvements. Transfers.—A number of applications for transfers approved. Miscellaneous. — R. Houston applied that H. Ellis might be allowed to select land elsewhere and surrender the unsurveyed pieces he selected by mistake. Resolved that Mr. Houston be asked to indicate the portion of the land Mr. Ellis would take, winch would then be opened up as unsurveyed. Application to Board to recommend the Minister to permit the fourths" derived from run No. 9 to be expended by the Tauranga County Council instead of by Government, also that a road be reserved through northern boundary of run 9 across Paraiti stream, to tap the Rangiuru Road. Recommended accordingly. The Kauri Timber Company applied that 15 of tneir timber floatage licenses may be renewed for one year. Agreed to renew licenses. T. H. McDougail applied that he might have time given him within which to pay his rent on run Mo. 6, MaUta. Resolved that previous action be endorsed. '

—Schemes for the expenditure of " thirds," were received from the following local bodies : —Matakana Road Board, Wairoa Road Board, Ohinemuri County Council, Mangonui County Council, Oruaiti Road Board. Resolved, "That the expenditure be approved." Correspondence.— Surveyor-General wrote stating that the Minister had refused to Kraut the Board's request to allow the Browns, of Matata, to surrender their perpetual lease land there, aud take up cash land to the amount of survey fees paid by them. The land is constantly subject to : floods, aud the above was the remedy suggested to help the Browns. Resolved, "That a copy of the SurveyorGeueral's letter be sent to Mr. Brown.

Meetings of Board.—Resolved, "That iu future the Board meet every fourth Tuesday in the mouth."
