THE NATIVE DISPUTE AT PAEROA.
THE FINAL SCENE. fBV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday. The final scene in connection with the Maori dispute ab Paeroa was enacted this morning, when all visitors left for their respective homes, and at ten o'clock there were none present at the Ngatiwhaki and Neatikoe hapm except the members of the tribes in the place. The Thames and Coramandel natives arrived here about noon boday. Sergeant Gillies also returned this afternoon, whilst the Auckland contingent will proceed direct to Auckland by the s.s. Paeroa. Mr. Eyre Kenny, S.M., has received a telegram of thanks from the Premier for the able manner in which he performed the arduous duties imposed on him, and there is no doubt that Mr. Kenny deserved high oommendation for his wise judgmenb, and the effectual efforts put) forth by him in suppressing a quarrel between natives, which would probably have culminated in bloodshed had not the Government stepped in, and Mr. Kenny, acting as medium, brought matters to a most satisfactory conclusion.
