KNIGHTS OF LABOUR DISTRICT ASSEMBLY.

The quarterly meeting of the Knights of Labour District Assembly was held in the St. George's Hall on Tuesday evening. Delegates from Gisborne, Hamilton, and Auckland were present. Correspondence was read from the Hon. W. *P. Reeves, Minister of Labour and Education, notifying that he will address a public meeting in Auckland on the Labour Bills, information of which he will wire to the secretary in a day or two. The address will be to the people, not to any section., From the Wellington District Assembly re the formation of a Colonial Assembly. Resolved, '■ That this District Assembly endorses the view expressed by the Wellington District Assembly that a Colonial Assembly should be formed, if possible, and that the question be submitted to our local assemblies and the District Executive." From the Hamilton Assembly stating the progress of the Knights of Labour there, and requesting that a seal be sent for their Assembly. Resolved, " That the secretary obtain and forward a seal to Hamilton." From the local Assembly (Kawatiri) stating that the miners' trouble is settled by the men accepting 2s 5d per ton for hewing, the company to weigh the coal, and make an allowance for stone, and that the'company also employed a new manager, which, as far as the men are concerned, is a great boon, and expressing satisfaction that a local Assembly has been opened at Mokihinui, with Joseph Risk as secretary, address Coal Creek. Also a letter from Brother Buick, Westport, asking various information, which the secretary was instructed to forward. A letter was received from Gisborne ordering six: copies each of " Referendum and Initiative," and "Thirty Sears of Labour." 'The District Secretary stated that he had sent an order to America last mail for the books. The following members were elected to serve on the Executive Board Brothers Marshall, Armitage, Hazard, and R. Salmon.
