PERSIAN LOLLIE DEALERS IN TROUBLE.
-—»_-_. It seems strange considering the few Persian lollie dealers thai; ply their calling in our city that they cannot carry on their trade without falling out. But judging from the proceedings at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, it would appear that compaction is so keen between them that it often leads to strife, and that jealousy exists among them to a, greater extent than among our own tradesmen. The defendants in the case were Louis Hasan Alii, a Persian, Chunder Deep and Mangoo Singh, Hindoos. They were charged with having on the 31st March unlawfully assaulted one Abdul Khan. Messrs. O'Meagher and Oliphant appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. McGregor for the defendants. Captain Morrow acted as interpreter. Mr. E. 8. Bush, Stipendiary Magistrate, was the presiding magistrate. The hearing of the case lasted the grater part of the day. A large number of witnesses were examined on both Bides. His Worship dismissed the charge against Mungoo Singh and Chunder Deep, but ordered Hasan Alii to find two sureties that he would keep the peace for three months, himself in £10, and one surety of £10.
