AUCKLAND SWIMMING CLUB'S CARNIVAL.
Lovers of the natatory art were rewarded with a genuine treat at the Swimming Club's carnival, last evening. There was a large attendance of visitors, who appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The building was brilliantly illuminated by over 100 gas jets. An efficient orchestra greatly enlivened the proceedings by discoursing sweet music. All the events were keenly contested, while the tug-of-war and crocodile race caused great amusement. _ Mr, George Creeth was assiduous in the discharge of his duties as secretary. The other officers, who gave every satisfaction, were Judges, Messrs. Gittos and ' Baker; time-keepers, Messrs. Mundy and Hughes; starter, Mr. S: E. Hughes; ' handicappers, Messrs. A. Smith and A.
