It will be seen by advertisement elsewhere that members are requested to attend in force to-morrow to play a friendly match with the Ponsonby Club, who are sending eight rinks.
The game on Saturday (says the Wellington Post of, the 3rd instant) for Captain Edwin's badges, between rinks from the Wellington and Thorndon Bowling Clubs, was one of the most evenly contested games seen here. The rinks were even right up to the last head, when the Wellington skipper scored a victory for his side and retained the badges. The teams were:—Wellington : Willeston, D. McLean, Haybittle, Sample (skip), 18. Thorndon : Letham, Fianaghan, W. Lambert, McGlashan (skip), 17. The results of other games played were as follow :—Barraud, ■ Churchward, S. Browe, James Lockie (skip), 31 v* J. Blundell, Plimmer, J. Yonng, J. Brown (skip), 20. Aplin, Boyes, Maudes ley, Ballinger (skip), 22 v. Whitehouse, Millar, Cordosa, McKee (skip), 23, Danks, Ward, Mowatt, Hutchens (skip), 16 v. Kember, Sloan, McDougall, Mathieson (skip), 16. Harris, Muir, Uriidy, Drummoud (skip), 30 v. Hill, Stevens, Martin,, A. Campbell (skip), 24. At the Thorndon green. Murdoch s rink beat another skippered by Salmon. S. Lambert's rink beat Exley's by 26 to 15, and D. Nathan scored 23, as against the 22 of D. Ross's team.
