A MAN KILLED IN A GRAVEL.
CRUSHED TO DEATH BY A FALL OF SCORIA. Yestekday morning a fine young ma _ named Charles Steward Coneily, aed o? a'son of W. J. Conelly, farmer, was acoi' dentally killed in a scoria pit, near th" Three Kings, owned by Mr. Conelly aa d worked by his son. The following are t.i circumstanceslt appears he went t work in the morning, telling his brother £ would throw down some scoria for the m, to cart away, and then would return to tl house to go into town. As he did not r turn, deceased's brother Herbert went ant to see the cause, and found the unfortuna? young man buried under some boulders and scoria which had come down, only hig head and shoulders being visible. The left temple had been smashed in, the foe. lacerated, and suffocation had ensued froi the fall of scoria. Herbert Conelly aided by Mr. Kinloch, extricated the body C life was extinct. Dr. Roberton, of Svm'ond' street,, was telephoned for, and he went out to the scene of the accident, but 0 » course nothing could be done. An in quest will be held to-day.
