WAIPU CALEDONIAN SPORTS.
The: Waipu Caledonian Society's annual sports were held on the Ist of January. A large number of people gathered to' witness the competition for the prizes offered. The amount given in prizes is larger than before, but the Society will have a surplus of £20 after paying prizes and expenses. , Mr., D. H. McKenzie performed the office ,of starter, and succeeded in getting his runners all off together in. every rice. Mr. W. J. England acted as judge of pip? music and dancing. Only three men appeared on the field in the garb of Old Gaul," and nob a single lassie condescended to grace the ground*, clad in Highland costume. The following are the results: — '/.
