STAR OF AUCKLAND LODGE, 1.0.0. F.

*. The public installation of officers of the Star of Auckland Lodge, No. 26, 1.0.0. F., A.C., was held at the Lodge-room, New Zealand Insurance Buildings last evening. The room was very tastefully decorated with flags, and presented a bright appearance. There Was a largo attendance of members, visiting brethren, and friends. Amongst those present were His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. J. Holland), and Mr. E. R. I'iggott, Deputy District Grand Master of the American Order. The proceedings were opened with the singing of the hymn, " Brethren Of Our Friendly Order," after which the reception of the Grand Lodge officers took place. During their entry Brother Phillpott, P.G., presided at the organ, and played a march. The elective officers then retired for examination. During the interval the solo, "Consider the Lilies," was rendered by Brother Phillpot. As the officers reentered, the hymn, "Come, Let (Js Swall the Joyful Note," was sung. The followin" members were then presented and invested :— Brother W. T. Webb, N.G.; Brother B. H Froude, V.0.; Brother Jas. Falconer, Treasurer; Brother W. M. Neumegen, Permanent Secretary; Brother H. W. Power, Recording Secretary. During the installation of the different officers several musical items were contri-, buted. Mr. George sang " Within these* Hallowed Walls" and " Rocked in .the Cradle of the Deep." The hymns "0 Praise our God to-day," "Lord, may it be Our Choice," And "O Lord how Joyful 'tis to See," were also well rendered. Addresses wore then delivered by his Worship the Mayor, Brothers J. M. Burchell, G. M., R. Armigor.P.G. (Kaeo), A. Kidd (President Druids), Gow (M.U.1.0.0.F.), Sheppard (A.0.F.), Flynn (P.D.P. Hibernian) E. R. Piggott (G.M.), and W. T. Webb (N.G.). The proceedings closed with the hymn, " Brothers, We Thank You All," and prayer by the Chaplain. The ceremony throughout was a most impressive oho. The installing officers were Brothers John Burchell, Grand Master, Henry Keesing, Acting Grand Chaplain; E. R. Piggott, Grand Marshal; W. A. Harvey, Acting Grand Warden; J. H. Cobley, Acting Grand Treasurer ; S. Gilbert, Acting Grand Secretary; and W. E. Stanley, Acting Grand Herald. A balance-sheet showing lie accounts for the year was distributed during the evening. It showed the assets of the society exceeded tho liabilities by £1480 12s Id. Brother J. H. Phillpot, besides presiding at the organ,' acted as musical director during the evening.
