1 »- — CRICKET. vert enjoyable cricket match, resulting in a close finish, was played on Tuesday afternoon between f;eam3 picked and captained by Messrs. F. V. Kelly and E. C. Beale. The ormer won the toss, and sent his men to the wickets. # T. H. Wilson made a long stand, after having been missed in the slips, and he with 52, and Holden with 14, were the only rouble figure scorers for their side. A. B. Lusk stumped three men very smartly, and. Thorpe made an' excellent catch at deep square leg, which disposed of Gardiner. Beale's side batted well, all except one making some runs. Morrison (16), Yates (12), and Beale (12), were the double figure scorers. Kelly made a fine catch when he disposed of Hawkins at deep square leg, as did also Jowitt when he secured Bay. The association match between the above clubs was played at Bombay in Mr. Proude's paddock, an Saturday, the 23rd December, in the presence of a considerable number of spectators. In the morning the weather was all that could be desired, but in the afternoon the thunderstorm which passed over stopped the play for some time. The scores were not great, the fielding on both sides bein° good. The hits of the day were made by H. E. Forde and James McKean, each sending the ball to the creek for 6. The most successful with the leather was Turboc 14 wickets for 18 runs, C. Cornthwaite 2 for 5 runs, C. Vince 8 for 31, and Alf. Evans 8 tor 40. ' A cricket match between the above teams took place on the Omaha cricket ground on December 22nd, and although it looked a decided victory for the visitors after the first innings, the local team won by two wickets amidst great excitement. H. Ryan and W. Sarah bowled well for the visitors, the former securing 8 wickets for 26 runs, while the latter got 8 for 30, Wallnntt 0 for 6, Stewart 0 for 7, Dale Of or 6. For the 1 ;cal team D. Waiuku won the toss, and elected to take the field. The weather was very threatening throughout the morning, and shortly after the play commenced a heavy thunderstorm passed over, making it impossible to continue the match.
