(BY THLEGRAPH.—PRESS i BBOCTATION.) Wellington, Wed ay. At a meeting of the creditors of \ David Thompson, flax-millet', Otata, the Assignee was requested to take criminal proceedings. The debtor, amongst other things, admitted having told certain creditors that he had flax stored in Wellington awaiting a rise in price, in order to induce them nob to press for wagev whereas, at that time the flux was actually sold and the money in his possession. Mr. Peters' tender was accepted for the new coach mail service from the central trunk terminus bo the Hot Lakes. The distance is 90 miles, and at present there is no accommodation-house on the line, bub a township is to be laid out at Wairu, about halfway. : A cablegram has been sent to Mr. Valentine, the New Zealand dairy expert, asking him to be in Wellington by the 10th ii»sb. Mr. Valentine is at present in Australia. ' Chkistchuhch, Wednesday. Over 20,000 people were carried by rail to Lytt'sltou on .New Year's Day. ; H.M.s. Orlando, the flagship of the Australasian Station, is expected at Lyttelton ia March. The secretary of the Harbour Board has been in communication with the Admiral respecting the facilities of the port, and the latter expressed surprise and j satisfaction at their oxteub. ' . t
