Tate petition against the election of Sir Robevb Stout is addressed to ; the Chief Justice, and states that Sir Robert Stout, by his agent, A. H. Logan, offered or promised to procure valuable consideration to one Wro. Jackson Barry to. induce him to vot* for Sir R. Stout, and that thiu valuable consideration was duly given ,f.n" consideration of Barry having voted at 'the election, It is understood that this auction refers to ii bet which L,ogan is alleged to have made of a suit of clothes that Stout would nob geb in. The other grounds are that Stout employed paid agents as, clerks and canvassers, etc., and that he hired conveyances to carry electors to and from the poll, and thab by. his agent Logan he made various wagers, bets, and other risks with Barry and other persons. The petition was, delivered ab the Returning Officer's residence in his ! absence on Friday, and a* duplicate copy was posted on the same day.
