THAMES NEWS.
[by telegraph.— correspondent.] Thames, Wednesday. The holidays, so far, have passed off without any accidents having occurred. Splendid weather has prevailed with the exception of two or three slight showers yesterday. All the excursions have been largely patronised, but the pleasure of the one to Miranda yesterday, under the auspices of the Good Templar lodge, was considerably marred by the fact that the s.s. Ohinemuri got stuck on a mud-bank at the Miranda, just as she was making a start for hbme. The resulb was that the excursionists had to stay all night on board, and about aeven o'clock this morning the p.s. Patiki was sent out to the assistance of the Ohinemuri. Eventually the excursionists reached the geods wharf in safety, and are unanimous in expressing their thanks to the captain and all on board for their kindness in doing everything possible for their comfort under the circumstances. Several visitors from Auckland were consequently detained until this morning, as the Ohinemuri was unable to take up her time-table. Last evening Mr. M. McDonnell, the wellknown local grain and produce merchant, who has been on a tour round the world for the last ten months, visiting the Chicago Exhibition ere route, returnedto the Thames
A cablegram was received here to-day, from Mr. E. K. Cooper, stating thab he had arranged everything in connection wfth the Jubilee mine at Waitekauri, and that he was to sail for this colony on the 2Sth instant,
