A CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS.

Christohobch, Wednesday. Quite a number of accidents occurred yesterday. A boy named Arthur Taylor, who was walking along tha oliffs at Sumner, fell a distance of thirty feet, and sustained concussion of the brain and severe injuries to the right leg. During a frolic Thomas Jenkins sustained a dislocation of the clavicle.
. At the Catholic picnic a man, Alex. Mitchell, was taking a horse out of a trap when the animal bolted, knocked him down, and the wheel passed over hia head, breaking his jaw. A youth named Anthony Martin was thrown from a Sumner tram, and the wheel of the car passed over his left foot, which crushed the toes badly. Probably the toes will liavo to be amputated. A boat capsized on Sumner bar, and four young men were thrown into the water. Parties from the, shore put off in boats and succeeded in rescuing the men. One hour elapsed before animation was restored in one case.
Wellington, Wednesday. A wharf labourer named John Brodey fell down the hold of the freezing hulk yesterday, and sustained concussion of the brain. He was assisting to load the Maori King with frozen meat from the hulk when the accident happened. Mrs. Sullivan, who was injured in a fire at the Upper Hutb last week, died in the hospital this morning. .Napier, Wednesday. Archibald Wilson fell down ab Hastings yesterday, striking his head en the pavement, and died from the effects of the injuries. Deceased was a well-known drover.
