THE HOLLOWAY DRAMATIC COMPANY.
The above company commence a short season at the Opera House this evening, when Frank Harvey's sensational and emotional play "Judge Not" will be produced. As the piece has nob been played in Auckland before, a brief outline of the plot may be interesting; — Helen Clyde, although perfectly innocent, is convicted upon circumstantial evidence and sentenced to five years' imprisonment for being concerned in a jewel robbery. Before this she was living with her husband, both.being in great poverty. During her imprisonment, Philip Clyde, her husband, is left a fortune by her uncle. On hearing the good news he immediately goes to the prison to see his wife, bub is told that No. occupant of the cell in which his wife was confined—is dead. In the fourth act Clyde is aboub bo be married again, bub is considerably surprised ab the re-appearance of his wife who has been engaged as nurse to his child. Explanations are satisfactorily given, and everything is again righted. The comic element is supplied by the troubles of a retired tragedian and his pupil, a young lady, who becomes stage struck. Eventually they are married. In act four a mechanics'! change of scene is cleverly effected, giving an effective representation of the Thames and part of the great metropolis by moonlight. i
