By advertisement elsewhere' attention is drawn to an amateur performance under the auspices of the Auckland Polo 'Club, to be given in the Opera House on Monday, 2nd October. The intensely - amusing Irish comedy, " O'Callaghan," and Broughton's " Written In Sand" are the pieces to be staged. Mr. Montagu assumes the stage management, and wil be assisted by a number of our best amateurs, which is a sufficient guarantee of the success of the entertainment. Mr. Towsey has consented to conduct the musical portion of the programme, and the overtures will be supplied by an amateur orchestra. A double quartette from the Liedertafel will contribute a very attractive item on the programme, and Mr. McClean, whose violin playing is so well known and admired, has promised a selection. .
