McKellar, and F. Waymouth were appointed members of the Council of the Institute of Accountants, in accordance with a resolution passed at the Wellington conference. A sub-committee was appointed to consider the subject suggested. The name of the' institute is to be altered to that of the " Institute of Accountants of Now Zealand, Incorporated." Mr Lomas, local agent of the Labour Bureau, received instructions to select ten more men to go to work at the Cheviot Estate. The men are required for heavy cuttings on the Bluff Read, and as the work is of a dangerous nature to any bub active and thoroughly competent workmen, none but suitable men will be sent. Westport, Friday. The firsb rake of coal, 25 trucks, from th Mokihinui Company's mine arrived fchi ß evening by train, which, on reaching the station was received with cheers by the crowd assembled. The coal is of excellent quality, and fully equal to the Coalbrookdale. Five hundred tons will be shipped next week. Wellington, Friday. Two young men named Clarke and Burton, who have been raiding outhouses at the Thorndon end of the town were to-day committed for trial on five charges, and sen tenced to three months' imprisonment on a number of others. DrTNEDiN, Friday. The Board of Land Purchase Commissioners held a sitting here all this week to consider offers to the Government of land for settlement. The proceedings will not be made public.
