FARMING OPERATIONS IN WAIKATO.
[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT, } Hamilton, Wednesday. The cold, wintry, squally weather we had for nearly a week past has considerably hindered farming operations, and rendered the roads in some places in a deplorable condition again. In the cases of the Whatawhata and Kihikihi factories, several milk suppliers are unable to get to the factory. The supply of milk to any of the facrovies is, however, very limited, owing to the backwardness of the grass, and it is very doubtful whether the milk for September will reach the quantity insisted upon by Messrs. Reynolds and Co. to ensure the payment of the bonus promised on that month's supply- Owing to the backwardness of the grass, and the partial failure in the turnip crop, feed is getting scarce in Waikato. The oaten chaff, too, has turned out very inferior, horses refusing it, and a great deal will remain uncut and be kept over for mixing with next year's crop.
