Washington, August 20. THE defeat of the ratio amendment is regarded as fatal to the hopes of the bimetal lists. Though Senator Vorhies' Bill is in favour to some extent of bimetallism, it is believed the silver men will now endeavour to force a compromise between Vorhies' and Wilson's Bills.
