ANTI-FRENCH FEELING IN ITALY.
ATTACK ON THE FRENCH EMBASSY. THE TROOPS CALLED OUT. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Rome, August 21. Rioters have wrecked and burned the French tramcars in Genoa, and chased the officials. Further attacks have been made on the French Embassy in this city, and the windows were smashed. The police were powerless to quell the disturbance, and troops had to be called out to disperse the mob. Later. The Italians renewed the agitation against the French and tried to seize their embassies both to the King and Pope. The attempt was frustrated by the soldiers. Rome, August 22. The Italian Government lias suspended the Prefect of Rome and the Chief of Police, for failing to protect the French Embassy properly. Paris, August 22. The Premier has expressed the regret of the Government to Italy for the outrage at Nismes.
