THE GOLDFIELDS.

[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday. Sharks iarkkt.—For the third day in succession the brokers have been unable to compile a list of quotations for public information, which fact is sufficient to show the state of the local sharemarket.

Cambria.—The usual monthly crushing for this company was completed to-day after treating 90 loads of general dirt and .'{(lib of picked stone, with the result that the manager banked llloz Sdwt of melted gold. Saxon.—Two parties of tributers in this mine were to-day successful in bagging nice parcels of picked stone, Ryan and party, whose block is at Mo. 5 level, obtaining 801 b, and darken and party, working at, No. 1 level, 70lb. Both parties have lodged their stone in the Bank of New Zealand for safe keeping. Another party of tributers (Cribble and party) completed a crushing of three loads of quartz to-day, for LSOozs retorted gold. Their block is at ho No. .'{ level.

Ai.uuknia.—A start has been made to carry along a stope upon tho footwall leader above the intermediate drive, recently pub in upon it from Nos. 4 and 5 stopes on tho Dixon's reef on tho western side of the winze, and when breaking a portion of it to-day '20lbs of very fair picked stone were obtained. Tho leader is about 9 inches in thickness, and looks very promising, a very good show of gold being left, for the next breaking down, it is probable that, operations will bo resumed in the crosscut next Monday, which was recently started to intersect the leader at the 7-feeb level, but which has been at a standstill during tho past week. The stopes upon Dixon's reef are without change, except the No. 6 slope eastward. In this stope, which is now along a distance of about 'JO feet, tho reef is looking very well, the quartz being charged with an excellent class of bright mineral, in which a lit tle gold is seen, whilst the amalgam accruing from its treatment at the battery also proves that it is good grade dirt.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Wooostiioic Untti'.d (Iviittin^altuke). —At ptf.seiit the fifth ato|ie is licin<? uilvanueil 011 the No. 'J lode, which is about two feet in thickness, ami as it curries more or less gold and silver throughout every particle of the lire is saved lor treatment. Sinking is now progressing with two .shifts of hands in the winze, which attained a depth fit 14 feet yesterday, when a shot was tired in the hangingWall portion of the No. 'J lode, and about one ton of ore was broken out. There is a fair percentage of gold and silver in the lode here, but I do not expect to meet with rich ore until we reach a dejd It of about l!."i feet, at which point the " strike" of the tributers No. 1 "shoot" of ore should carry it into the will/.-'. The battery and pan plant is still running full time, and the ore under treatment from the stopes on the No. '2 lode is shaping tor a return about the same as that obtained from the -10-loti parcel treated during the fortnight ending Friday, the "JStli ultimo.
