DEPARTURES. Qlenelg, n.s.. Austen, for Hokianga.— Northern S.S. Co., agents. The Union S.S. Company's steamer Mahinapua, Captain W. J. Newton, arrived from the South at 1.40 p.m. yesterday, Mr. G. A. Hudson, the purser, reports that the steamer left Wellington at 7.45 p.m. on the 31st December, and arrived at Nelson at 7.15 a.m. on the Ist instant. Left for Taranaki at 5 p.m. on .the 2nd, arriving at 8.30 a.m. on the 3rd. Left Taranaki for the Mftnnk-a.il at 10,30 p.m. the same day, crossed

the bar at 11.35 a.m., and reached the wharf at 1.40 p.m. yesterday. Experienced fresh S.E. wind, with moderate sea, as far as Nelson; from there to Taranaki had strong S.E. wind, with heavy sea ; thence to arrival had strong easterly winds, with heavy rain. The Northern S S. Co.'sGlenelg took her departure for Hokiansa at 4 p.m. yesterday, being well patronised with passengers and freight.
