The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 391, as against 411 in Sept., a decrease of 20. The deaths in October were 140, a decrease of 27 as compared with the number in Sept. Of the total deaths, males contributed 76, and females 65. Thirty-nine of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 27.86 per cent, of the whole number. Of these 26 were under one year of age.
