[BY TKLKGKAPJI.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Wellington, Tuesday. Mr. John H. Hkaton has declined re-nomi-nation as a member of the Wellington Harbour Board. Mr. F. H. Fraser has accepted the seat formerly held by Mr. W. F. Wheeler. Mr. E. Pearce, the third nominated member, has accepted reappoint ment. A meeting is to be held during the week, at which it is expected Wednesday afternoon will be fixed as the general halfholiday. It was thought by some of the employers that closing from one to six p.m. on Saturday would meet the Act, but law officers of the Crown advise to the contrary. The Hon. John McKenzie's condition shows an improvement today. The internal hemorrhage, which was found to proceed from a rupture of a small vein near the liver, has stopped. Mr. Seddon is announced to address a £üblic meeting at Otaki on Friday night. [e visits Pal mors ton North on the following day, returning to Wellington on Mori day. Mr. Ballance leaves for Wanganm at the end of the week. The Eight Hours' Demonstration Committee passed a resolution to-night congratulating Mr. Rigg on his appointment to the Legislative Council, and expressing approval of the appointments as a whole. The Committee also expressed its approval of the selections which had been made to represent the Labour interests. An executive committee, consisting of representatives from all the trades in Wellington, was appointed to make arrangements for a banquet to be tendered to Mr. Rigg at an early date in honour of his call to the Council. Timaru, Tuesday. In the District; Court, to-day, Judge Ward gave decision on appeal from«' conviction of the licensee of the Old Bank Hotel for Sunday trading, upholding the conviction. Dune din, Tuesday. William Campbell, fishmonger, who was thrown out of his cart a week ago, sustaining a fracture of the skull, died at the hospital this morning. The principal drapery firms in Dunedin have agreed to close on Saturday.
