A FRAUDULENT BANKRUPT.
SENTENCE OF IMPRISONMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Timaro, Tuesday. In the District Court, Judge Ward was occupied all day hearing specific charges of fraud in the public examination in bankruptcy of W. M. Sims, partner in the firm of Ross and Sims. Ross was sentenced at a previous sitting to nine months. His Honor found Sims less culpable than Ross, but still guilty of fraud with intent, and misrepresentation to the clients of the firm, and fraudulent bookkeeping, and sentenced him to three months' with hard labour. Sims had borne a good character, and was minister's churchwarden, and member of the High School Board at the time of thebankruptcy. A motion to upset a mortgage of £2000 by Ross to his daughter was adjourned till uext month, and during the proceedings it was hinted that Ross was not yet done with under the penal provisions.
