THE GOVERNORS VISIT.

We learn from Colonel Pat. Boyle that His Excellency the Governor, Lady Glasgow, Lady Augusta Boyle, Captain HunterBlair, and suite, accompanied by the Hon. W. P. Reeves and private secretary, -mil leave Wellington by special train at nine o'clock this morning, arriving at Palmerston about one. Here His Excellency will be presented with addresses of welcome,"-and after a stay of two hoars the journey will be resumed to Wanganui, where the party will stay over Monday and Tuesday, making atrip up the river on the latter day. On Wednesday they leave ■ Wanganui at eight o'clock in the morning, arriving at New Plymouth in the afternoon, where His Excellency will be received by, the Mayor. The Hinemoa, which leaves Wellington to morrow afternoon, having on board Lord and Lady Glasgow family and servants, will leave New Plymouth about nine o'clock on Wednesday evening, and will arrive at Onehunga about eight o'clock on Thursday morning. Lord Glasgow remains here until Monday, the 31st, when he leaves by the Takapuna for Christcburcb, where he will stay until the 17th November, when he returns to Auckland by the same steamer. A meeting of delegates of the friendly societies was held on Friday night at the Commercial Hotel, Shortland-etreet. The first matter taken into .consideration was the question of whether the . societies as bodies should take part in the reception of His Excellency Lord Glasgow on his arrival in Auckland on Thursday next. Considerable discussion took place, and it was finally decided that owing to the short notice the societies would be unable to take an active part in the reception. A good many of the delegates expressed dissatisfaction with the new order of things in closing the Government House grounds and not permitting the procession to go through and leave their Excellencies on the verandah of Government House, as the reason given that it would interfere with the servants getting in the luggage was not deemed sufficient. The officer commanding the district (Lieut. -Colonel Goring) notifies elsewhere in a district order that the undermentioned corps will parade in review order at two p.m., in the Drillshed, on Thursday next, namely, Auckland Is aval Artillery, "A" Battery Artillery, Victoria* Rifles, City Guards, Newton Rifles, and Garrison Band. The officers of the district staff are requested to attend the reception of His Excellency the Governor on arrival of the train at Auckland. The Ponsonby Naval Artillery will proceed to Onehunga by the one p.m. train, and carry out the order already given.
