It is understood that the nomination of the Right Hon. Arthur Wellesley Peel as Speaker of the House of Commons will not be opposed. THE DUKE OF MANCHESTER. London, August 2. The discovery of America by Columbus, in vessels supplied by the sovereigns of Spain, will be celebrated by a joint naval display. DEATH OF AN EARL. London, August 2. The Earl of Bathurst is dead. [The deceased nobleman was the seventh earl, the title being created in 1772. Hβ was born in 1832; and was M.P. for Cirancester from 1857 to 1878 in the Conservative interest, at which latter date he succeeded to the title. His son Lord Apsley will now come into the earldom of Bathurw.]
